A fairground '' Galloping horse" by Orton and Spooner.
A superb and early fairground horse in painted timber, with its original metal trim and oilcloth seat. Exceptionally original with beautifully worn, first paintwork.
The horse once formed part of the Edwards & Sons, 'Super Chariot Racer Noahs Ark'. This was originally built as a standard Noah’s Ark by Orton & Spooner in 1933 and contained only single seater animal figures on the ride. It cost the Edwards’ family £1700 when new and in 1936, motorcycle mounts were added to the outer row of aminals.
In 1946 the ride was again returned to Ortons and extensively rebuilt with many components updated and redecorated, which is probably when this horse was removed. The ride now resides at the Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre.
With most of these old fairground rides much later and earlier ones, having been repainted over the years, so this is a rare find.

Wear commensurate with age, delightfully unrestored.
